Wood Floor

At the same time the loggers were falling trees out back,
the new wood floor was being installed inside.

I think it turned out beautiful.

The area rug came from my Mother's house.
It will soon be replaced with a different color,
although I think it looks lovely on the floor.

I wasn't sure I would like having wood floors, but I love it.
The floor we picked is hand scraped and has a matte finish.
The dogs can't really hurt it because it has a rough surface already.

Simply wonderful!

  1. Beautiful. I love real wood floors. Ours are laminate & look ok but just too shiny. Yours are gorgeous.

    1. DFW,

Thank you! If my floors were shiny I would be in big trouble. We have lot's of muddy paws around here. When we tiled the kitchen floor we chose a dull finish also. I love the look of shiny floors, but I can't keep them clean!

  2. I'm glad you got your internet up and running. My home in Indiana had rough hewn hardwood floors even in the kitchen and bedrooms. My new house in Florida is hardwood throughout. I'd never have anything else!

That floor, and the color of your walls, is BEAUTIFUL.

    1. Lotta Joy,

I'm glad you like it! We left the bedrooms with carpet for now, and the kitchen is already tile, but maybe someday we will do the bedrooms at least. The yellow walls help me deal with the grey skies we have for 6 months of the year. Yellow and blue are my favorite colors and it must be because I miss seeing the sun and the sky!

    2. Doom and gloom skies for 5 months out of the year got to me in Indiana. I tried every color combination, but yours works, MAINLY because of those huge windows!!

    1. Hello my friend! Thanks for the kind words. Our home is old (like me) and we make changes as we can. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your new place. Any decision yet on a new blog?
